Wandering theatre started from Keila yesterday. Guess, who couldn’t stay at home?
Kilplased was simple yet funny to watch. The story about people doing everything in an especially stupid way. Like building a house without windows or carrying wood down the hill. You should all know them :).
Nobody was interested to see the concert in the evening though :(. Their mistake, a big one. I wouldn’t have wanted to miss that. Genialistid was good as always but actors of VKA were slightly better I’m afraid. Another version of Queen’s We Will Rock You was performed along with other good songs. If there weren’t this final song the best one would have been a duo with this girl with black curly hair. However I again feel that I should buy myself better memory since I can’t remember any words other than “maailm on jokk” (I hope it was that way) from one song.
But the last song was the best. It’s called Papa Carlo song and is performed quite often lately. Even though this version with Genialistid and VKA students was with great tempo I still consider best the way it was performed by students of 2002 of Lavakas I’m not so big fan of Genialistid to know all their song by heart but I do know Papa Carlo song from the beginning till the end. It was good to sing it along as always.
In conclusion? Go, see it, you won’t regret. Oh, and if you remember any words later, post them as comment here :).
Eurovision and theatre play “Terrorism”
So after about three hours there will be the final of Eurovision Song Contest. I can’t really say that there are very good songs performed. Most of the semi-final songs were terrible in my mind and even if the song was not so bad then performing was. As to finalists I seem to like 7 countries more than others. These are: Armenia, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Malta, Russia and Switzerland. Though Russian’s accent disturbs me slightly. This time I’m not sad that our song didn’t make it to the final, it was not good and there were better songs in Estonian final to choose from. When I try to think about it, I can’t even remember the melody of Sandra’s song. However I remember the one of “Mr Right” sang by Meribel.
On the 13th of May I went to Viljandi with my friends and we were also celebrating one girl’s birthday since it was in the middle of exam period and she didn’t have time then. It turned out just great. We went to some shops and afterwards had a picnic at the ruins of the castle. The view at the lake from there is marvellous. I’d post a photo but it isn’t as good as to really be there so I think I won’t. In the evening we watched “Terrorism” written by brothers Presnyakovs and performed by Ugalas actors Hilje Murel, Carita Vaikjärv, Kadri Lepp, Aarne Soro, Meelis Rämmeld, Tanel Ingi, Martin Algus, Ott Aardam and Arvo Raimo. Since it was the last time they played it the director itself played an episodic role too :).
The story was about terrorism in everyday life, for example how parents treat their children badly because it’s the only way they know as their childhood was horrible. All that was very farcical. There was this story line about how man found his wife with another and then opened the gas not doing anything else himself. But there was this little boy pressing door bells just for fun and when he did it at this door there was a sparkle and everything exploded. Alltogether there were at least three people who died for stupid or silly reasons. And just four days after someone I knew died also. Not because of health or anything like that but because of someone’s stupid behaviour. So what may look not real and farcical might actually happen. No of course not the same way but for the same reason. Sad.
Disappointed
I booked the tickets in the center of third row. I did it about month before. I waited for weeks to see it. And just to go and find out that the play has been cancelled because tickets didn’t sell well enough.
And… to hear that actually there was no advertising whatsoever. How did they plan to sell tickets when there was not information about it? I don’t think they would have had problems selling it out completely with just a little advertising since it was additional play. If they sold it out once quickly enough to repeat the play in same place then how comes that there’s not people interested?
I’m so completely dissapointed. It was supposed to be really interesting evening and it turned out to be nothing. And not because of an illness of an actor like it sometimes happens but just because they didn’t bother to advertise.
Advertising can be boring nonsense and all other unpleasant things but it also INFORMS people. And that is not so unimportant.
Oh and lately I’m feeling like I’m attracting negative things just like antenna attracts thunder. I need some positiveness and so far I can’t see much of it. Since it can’t go much worse I’m assuming it will go better. The question is how long I have to wait for that to happen.
Theatre impressions
On Friday last week I visited Tallinn City Theatre. I’ve never been there before and I liked it very much. I went there to see concert named Estonian Theatre Songs (Eesti teatri laulud). It consisted of songs from Koidula’s era to Olav Ehala’s music. Songs were performed by Hele Kõre, Evelin Pang, Argo Aadli, Andero Ermel, Mart Toome, Indrek Ojari, Riina Roose, Jaak Jürisson and Indrek Tiisel. Four of them are graduates of Estonian Higher Drama School from 2002 and that is the group of actors whose performing I always enjoy. Once again I was convinced that I like singing actors more than singing singers. Actors just do it so much better because of all movements and facial expressions. And these actors sing very professionally in my opinion. If they only wanted I believe they would be successful singers by now instead of actors. Fortunately they chose acting and I can see as many of their plays as possible. I’ve been humming all melodies I can remember throughout the week :)
From theatre’s homepage I read that they have a plan to put this music on cd, so thumbs up because this is the disc I must have.
Other than that there’s school keeping me busy enough so I’m writing this week later. Now I really should go on with learning oracle so this is the end of this entry.
